When is it safest to ride a motorcycle on a wet road?

Riding a motorcycle on a wet road carries inherent risks due to reduced traction, visibility issues, and the possibility of slippery surfaces. The safest time to ride on a wet road is indeed when it has stopped raining. At this point, the surface may still be wet but is no longer being exacerbated by falling rain, which can create additional hazards, such as water pooling or mixed debris on the road.

When it has stopped raining, the rain has also usually begun to wash away some of the oils and greases that accumulate on the road, which can create slippery conditions initially. As time passes after the rain has ceased, the road conditions will improve as the water dissipates and any residual debris becomes more visible and can be avoided.

Riding during moderate rain or while it is still raining poses higher risks, as the rider has to deal with greater amounts of water on the surface, which can lead to slippery conditions and decreased visibility.
